It starts with a screening of “The Last Letter,” Frederick Wiseman’s 2002 adaptation of a chapter from Grossman’s novel about the Holocaust and ...the siege of Stalingrad. Following the movie, Wiseman joins a discussion on the subject with the former war correspondent Chris Hedges, the film and sound editor Walter Murch, the historians Timothy Snyder and Ruth Ben-Ghiat, and Edwin Frank, the editor of the N.Y.R.B.
