      Would just like to say a big thank you to you all for yesterday's masterclass! My two sons attended and we all came away feeling very enthused! Ben was desperate to get his hands on that euphonium too! We can't wait till next year! Maybe next year their little sister will be able to come too! She has recently been bitten by the percussion bug! Thanks again!

    On the coach now after a great weekend with Black Dyke. A very well received concert and some great playing in this mornings master classes. All accompanied by great weather! Oh yeah, and I also got to drive a supercharged 5 litre Jag!!!!!

    Great afternoon in Leeds. Black Dyke shared the stage with some fantastically talented youngsters and great to see so many bands involved. Well done to Richard Marshall and Brett Baker on presenting fantastic coaching workshops. Back to reality tomorrow evening for the band as we record 3 test pieces!!!

    PRESS RELEASE

    Black Dyke win European Championship

    Black Dyke Band was declared European Champion in Rotterdam on
    Saturday 5th May 2012 after their performances of Vita Aeterna Variations
    by Alexander Comitas and their own choice test piece Revelation by Philip
    Wilby. Despite an early number 2 draw on Saturday, the band managed a
    four point victory overall. The band last won the title in 2005 an...d this is an
    unequalled twelfth time the band has held this title in the thirty five year history
    of the contest.

    Dr Nicholas Childs said “"I have a wonderful band to conduct, all of whom
    work so hard. Friday on the set work was very special, but to rise again to
    play like we did on our own choice selection on Saturday was perhaps an
    even greater effort."

    The band wishes to place on record their sincere gratitude for the financial
    support they received from the Bradford City Council’s Department of Culture
    and Regeneration.

    The band will defend it’s English National title at Preston on June 25th 2012    Mehr anzeigen

    Just about to get on the road to the bandroom, then onto Hull for the ferry and next stop, Rotterdam! Great open rehearsal, some lovely comments from audience and of course fantastic to have Philip Wilby there too. And if you're really keen, the contest will be streamed live too!!!
