We are the newly born Portuguese Partido Pelos Animais (Party For The Animals. The use of animals for what can be considered non-vital interests such as cosmetics, circus entertainment, bullfighting and fishing should be banned. Any religious or cultural tradition that affects the welfare of animals should be re...viewed. In the past, traditions have adapted and evolved with changing times and traditions should continue to take into account new concepts and moral standards. So, we are writing to you all because we know that you all have scheduled concerts at Campo Pequeno, in Lisbon. Maybe you don´t know, because the whole space in Campo Pequeno is very well disguised, but in the exact same place were you are going to perform real art, they also perform an obnoxious and barbaric event called Bullfighting, a medieval event where humans torture and kill sentient beings, the bulls. A sentient being is capable of experience pain, sufferance and stress like we do. For you to see with your own eyes what a bullfight is, we attached some photos with the expectation that our words and the photos will create awareness and compassion in you towards these animals that will be tortured and killed in the exact spot where you will be performing. So we hereby appeal to you: Don’t let your name be connected, even indirectly, with such a barbaric event where men torture and slaughter animals. There are other places in Lisbon to perform music, even better.
Bullfighting is an abominable act that puts Portugal in the list of the shameful and dishonourable 9 countries in the world that still allow this barbaric act. It is our responsibility towards the sentient beings with a voice that we intend to represent in our Parliament and towards our thousands of supporters to inform them about all our actions. So they already know about this letter and they will know your answer in all our pages: website, 2 pages in Facebook, My Space, HI5 and Twitter. And, of course, in the media.For your knowledge, previously, a couple of months ago, we already have written to the Campo Pequeno enterprise to give them notice of this action.
