On the 31st of January the Portuguese artist Rudolfo Quintas was awarded a distinction Trans...mediale Award 2009 at the Berlin Transmediale festival for his work «Burning the sound».The interactive sound performance is about the nature of rituals, power and control. It uses fire from a regular lighter to subvert patterns of rhythm, thus using technologically mediated computer sound to exorcise the sound as a spiritual strategy. The performer's gestures in relation to his instrument not only show the performer's emotional state, but it brings the instrument to life. In this action, it is explored and established as a synaesthesic symbolic metaphor in the sense that it is from the flame that the sound is shaped. This intensifies the synaesthesic quality of the sound being perceived as burned by the flame. Fire was probably the first technology to exist and is knowledge based and ritualistic. Within "Burning The Sound", digital, new media and ancestral technologies fuse to question contemporary strategies of invisible control.

Rudolfo Quintas is a visual artist and performer specialising in the design of interactive audiovisual systems. In the past eight years he has been experimenting and developing artistic projects that intersect distinct artistic disciplines with technological ones. The body as subject and/or interface has been a central element in his works. He has been creating performances and installation by research in domains such as gesture and motion analysis and shaping interactive digital media in augmented reality environments. He co-founded with Francisco Paim the VJ group UPLOAD (1999-2001), participated in the multidisciplinary group Humana (2001-2002) and co-founded and directed with Tiago Dionisio the Swap project (2000-2007). He is part of NIP – New Interfaces for Performance group and he is assistant professor at UBI – Universidade da Beira Interior.

Independant Musician, organiser of itinerant musical & cinema party in Switzerland called : Nocturnes MadeOneShot, member of musical organisation/programmation of LUFF (Lausanne Underground Film & Music Festival) and founder of artistic web platform MERJ.CH. He also compose and play ponctually for contemporary theater project with "Cie. Parle à un ange" (www.un-ange.ch).
His music is destinated to be perform live, only few home made CDr (copyleft of course !!) are available. Former student of piano at conservatory (Montreux in Switzerland), jazz & also at sound technician school (Lausanne in Switzerland) for a total of 18 years of academic stuff,,, but still, he is intersted in composition and keep (really) important base to produce his actual live performance.
. . .'s also active with other musical project such as the extrem duo Overload Collapse with the tattoo artist and Noisician Nicolas J. Fasnacht, CINE-NOISE with cineasts Ricardo da Silva & Sara Tocchetti & musician TOKAGE & VERJ.
To produce his music, he works with his computer for real time treatment (mainly MAX/MSP), a small mixing table and some analogic effects. To produce and play live the sounds, he uses basic feedback (analogic & numeric) sounds and then go thru different way such as effects, spring reverb, laptop, recorder and even nowhere ! Anyway... Who cares about that ? Music is maybe one of the best way to say something that anybody should understand.

Das Record-Label Moozak veröffentlicht am 28. Oktober 2009 Katalognummer 2 und zelebriert diesen Umstand am selbigen Tag im Rahmen von Klub Moozak #28 mit einer speziellen Erscheinungsfeier im Wiener Fluc.
Als Priester der Erscheinungsfeier wird KK Null (Japan) mit einem speziellen Konzert in Aktion treten.
Der Leiter d...es Max-Brand-Archivs, Dr. Helmut Schwarzjirg, wir am Beginn des Abends ein wenig über die Entstehungsgeschichte sowie die Besonderheiten des Max Brand Synthesizers sprechen.
Moozak steht für experimentelle Musik mit Herz und Seele.
Ohne sich in Subgenre-Definitionen zu verfangen wird versucht die Grenzen des musikalischen Ausdrucks auszuloten.
Basis und Nährboden für das Label sind die regelmässigen Klub Moozak Veranstaltungen im Wiener Fluc (seit September 2007). Bei den bisherigen 26 Ausgaben wurden insgesamt 56 Live-Konzerte (mit 29 internationalen Gästen aus 16 Ländern) bei freiem Eintritt geboten. Born in Tokyo, Japan, 1961. Electro-acoustic music composer/performer, and guitarist, singer, mastermind of avant-garde rock band ZENI GEVA.
In 1981 studied at Butoh dancer, Min Tanaka's "Mai-Juku" workshop and started performing guitar improvisation in Tokyo, and collaborated with MERZBOW for two years, and joined the band YBO2 (with Tatsuya Yoshida, drummer of RUINS) and started the improvized rock trio ABSOLUT NULL PUNKT (with Seijiro Murayama, the original drummer of Keiji Haino's FUSHITSUSHA).
In the 90's ZENI GEVA released five albums produced by STEVE ALBINI. Also recorded twice for JOHN PEEL SESSION on BBC, and immensely toured throughout Europe, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Japan, playing hundreds of concerts.
All the while, KK NULL has been working on his solo career and collaborated with other musical innovators from all over the globe such as CHRIS WATSON (UK), Z'EV (USA/UK), JOHN ZORN (USA), FRED FRITH (USA/UK), MATMOS (USA), KEIJI HAINO (Japan), JON ROSE (Australia), PHILIP SAMARTZIS (Australia), ALEXEI BORISOV (Russia), ZBIGNIEW KARKOWSKI (Poland) to name a few, and has been invited to perform at prestigious international festivals. Especially, KK NULL has been invited by GRM (Le Groupe de Recherches Musicales) to perform at Presences Électronique in Paris, France successively 2008 and 2009.
In recent years KK NULL has concentrated his efforts on his solo & collaborative recordings, exploring the outer territories of electronica, creating intense clashing wave of noise, structured electro-acoustic ambience, broken down rhythmics, scattered pitch sculptures, droning isolationist material, which could be described "cosmic noise maximal/minimalism".
