Stolpersteine
"Stolpersteine" (or "stumbling blocks", obstacles) is a project of the German artist Gunter Demnig. They are supposed to remind us of the people who were killed by the Nazis in concentration camps.
Volunteers are collecting information about the people murdered under the Nazi regime. If the biography of a certain perso...n is finished, Mr. Demnig creates a cube (10x4 cm) covered with brass. The the information of the person follows: name, year of birth and death and in which concentration camp they were brought. The "stumbling block" then becomes a part of the pavement in front of the last residence of the victim.
